‘Cavendish' is a pelargonium with a good story

We've propagated it at Perch Hill from a rooted cutting given to me by Lord Cavendish of Holker Hall where it occurred as a chance cross in his private greenhouse, a hybrid between Pelargonium papilionaceum (the so-called Butterfly geranium) with the peppermint-scented Pelargonium tomentosum. And what a spectacularly wonderful plant it is - with HUGE, fragrant leaves with the rose mixed with blackcurrant-leaf scent of papilionaceum, the felted texture and beauty of tomentosum and pretty spring flowers.

It grows to be a whopper, but if you have the space works perfectly as a winter house or conservatory plant and we use it as a super bold and beautiful foliage plant for our summer and autumn containers. Not frost hardy. Exclusive to us - we are so excited and proud to offer this totally unique pelargonium.
