We asked the wonderful Arit Anderson to select her favourites last spring – this is the result
In an exotic palette of hot reds and orange, with intensely contrasting hues of deep plum. These eight tulips bring a mix of quirky shapes and statement colour to your spring displays.
Plant into a large container or direct in the border for riot of colour from April into May.
This collection contains 5 or 10 bulbs each of:
- Tulip 'Brown Sugar'
- Tulip 'Orange Marmalade'
- Tulip 'Hermitage'
- Tulip 'Ballerina'
- Tulip 'Princes Irene'
- Tulip 'Veronique Sanson'
- Tulip 'Dolls Minuet'
- Tulip 'Black Hero'
Tulip petals are all edible. We scatter them over salad and use some petals dipped in tempura batter and served with a spring garden Frito Misto.

- Don’t plant tulips until mid-late October. Plant pointy end up 10-15cm deep, 8cm apart in borders (less in containers). You can use a mycorrhizal Bulb Starter.
Care Tips
After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs.
