A Year Full of Flowers with Sarah Raven at Thyme, Gloucestershire
Based on her book, tracing the year from January to December at her home, Perch Hill, Sarah offers a complete and transporting account of a garden crafted over decades
Colour and scent are the hallmarks of Sarah's style - and they are simple luxuries that everyone can bring into their garden. On this day course, she, alongside Josie Lewis Head Gardener at Perch Hill, (who will teach some practical skills in the afternoon), will give you inspiration, planting ideas and expert advice for a beautiful garden all-year round. Sarah will show you her favourites of the hardworking varieties that make the garden sing, including a floristry demo.
Discover long-lasting, divinely scented tulips, roses that keep flowering through much of summer and well into autumn, the most magnificent dahlias and show-stopping alliums, as well as how to grow sweet peas up a teepee, take cuttings, and stop mildew in its tracks. This is passionate, life-enriching gardening; it's also simple, adaptable and can work for you. Sarah has made the garden central to her life - this course shows you how you can too.
- This course is taught by Sarah with assistance from Josie Lewis. It is a lecture with slides format, with some practical demos. You will get a course hand-out covering all the information Sarah teaches on the day
- It is held at Thyme, Southrop Manor Estate, Gloucestershire, GL7 3PW. Nestled in the rolling Cotswold hills, Thyme is a 'Village within a Village'. The collection of restored historic buildings evoke a hamlet feel, enveloped by a series of classic country house gardens and orchards that supply flowers for the house, food for the kitchen, and herbs for the spa. At Thyme, guests can stay in the botanically inspired bedrooms, dine in the restaurant situated in the old Ox Barn, or partake in classes and workshops from the Calendar of Happenings. Thyme is a place to slow down and reconnect with nature.
- The day lasts from 9am until 3pm with a prompt 9:30am start, including tea/coffee on arrival, morning tea/coffee break and a 2 course garden menu lunch served in the Ox Barn at Thyme
