More Details

The ideal size for a bulb lasagne in the autumn and one of our pot collections in summer.

This has a solid base so it can be used indoors in a conservatory or outside.

  • H.30cm, Diam.39cm
  • Made from galvanised steel with a zinc coating
  • These planters will quickly weather and take on a rusted, aged appearance.

We would recommend putting a layer of grit at the bottom of this planter when planting, as it does not have drainage holes.

The planter arrived a short while after ordering and was just what I wanted. A friend gave me a large hellebore as a present and I was able to display it in the planter right away. I have some spring bulbs in ordinary flower pots and intend putting these in the planter later, followed by summer flowers. So, a very versatile and useful garden accessory.

Drill holes!

Reviewed 16th November 2015 by M Williamson

I bought one of these lovely planters and put a large quantity of grit in the bottom. We had a very wet summer and the soil became waterlogged and the plants rotted off.
I then drilled several holes in the bottom, put a layer of grit in the bottom and replanted the pot.
If you live in Cumbria or have a wet summer then you will need more drainage than the suggested grit.

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your feedback and for the suggestion that drilling drainage holes into this product might be necessary, if using in wetter parts of the country. We have now added this additional information to the product page so that customers are aware before they buy one of these Zinc planters."
