Nigellas are the classic cottage garden annual which makes fabulous cut flowers and filler foliage for any vase. They dry brilliantly too.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow under cover March and September, or April and August direct. Will self-sow but colours cross breed.
Care Tips Keep picking but leave a few flowers to form seed pods for mixing with later flowers.
Flowering July - September, 10-12 weeks from spring sowing
Vase Life 7-10 days, seed pod indefinite. Strip the bottom leaves. These also dry brilliantly.
Harvesting Flower and seed case production: 3 months.

These germinated and grew well. The flowers were beautiful but not many flowered.

This is my second year of enjoying these most beautiful delicate flowers. They’ve re-seeded from last year and have grown over winter in the soil; they are so much stronger having been seeded in the autumn. I now have a stunning display in my garden. Admired (I’m happy to say) by many.
They have all come up true to colour (white) which surprised me.
Even the seed heads are gorgeous.

another flower that i have grown for my daughters wedding. The flowers are so striking we are going to use them as buttonholes for the men. I have pics but nowhere to post them. Have also grown Orlaya Grandiflora, Cosmos Purity and Gypsophila Covent Garden
