More Details

A pot pelargonium which is almost always in flower. We have individual plants of it in their own terracotta pots lining the sides of a path and then mass it in a huge pot to radiate light into a dull corner. Cool, classy and reliable.

Variety Designer White
Type Tender Perennial
Common Name Zonal Geranium
Border Position Container, Indoor
Soil Type Alkaline, Fertile, Neutral

Moisture Moist but Well-drained
Height 60cm (24in)
Spacing 40cm (16in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Protect plants from frost in a sheltered environment whilst you pot them on ready to go outside, usually around May time. A greenhouse is perfect but a windowsill or conservatory will do fine (16-18°C is ideal), with plenty of sunlight. Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days before moving to their final position. If growing in containers incorporate a slow-release fertiliser into the potting mix.
Care Tips Water plants well in summer and deadhead to encourage a second flush of flowers. Apply a home-made feed of comfrey juice, or organic liquid plant food, both rich in potash, every fortnight. Lift the plants with care and pot them up inside before the frost, cutting the top growth back by one third as you do so. They don’t go into complete dormancy, so water lightly through the winter. In spring begin feeding and increase watering. Plant out only once the danger of frost has passed. Please be aware that contact with the foliage may occasionally aggravate skin allergies.

I ordered a mix of summer bulbs, geranium seedlings Apple blossom and rooted cuttings Designer white, cosmos seedlings, Argyranthemum rooted cuttings and Perovskia Blue Spire. The Apple Blossom and summer bulbs were in stock, but the Cosmos seedlings were scheduled to arrive in May. In fact all 3 arrived in early April meaning that the seedlings have now grown a good deal in the greenhouse. The other items were scheduled for delivery in late April or May. Given the level of ordering experienced by all garden suppliers I was amazed that 3 items arrived so quickly. The seedlings were in very good condition as were the bulbs. I am very happy with what has been delivered.
