In October/November, plant pointy end up 10-15cm deep, 8cm apart. Layer bulbs to a depth of 25-30cm if room is tight. For containers, space bulbs 1-2cm apart if planting in a single layer, give them more room, 2-3cm if planting in a bulb lasagne.

Description

Mme de Pompadour has a touch of darkness in the midst of all her silk and ribbon flounces. If you want something that treads the middle ground between the soft and the sombre, this is the one. That balance is perfect here — and I absolutely love it.

This collection contains 5 or 10 bulbs each of:
  • Tulip 'Uncle Tom'
  • Tulip 'Copper Image'
  • Tulip 'Slawa'
  • Tulip 'Black Hero'
  • Tulip 'Negrita Parrot'

This can be gift wrapped in our exclusive hessian sack, with ribbon and a Sarah Raven gift card. You will be able to add this to your basket once you begin the checkout process. To add a gift message to your order, simply fill out the details at the delivery stage of the checkout.

Please note: only items which are showing ‘in stock’ can be gift wrapped.

Tulip petals are all edible. We scatter them over salad and use some petals dipped in tempura batter and served with a spring garden Frito Misto. Tulip 'White Valley' is a favourite for this.

Care Tips

Allow foliage to die down naturally if you are hoping to reuse the bulbs the following year.
