Description
Every autumn I see this shrub at Sissinghurst and wish-oh-wish I’d planted it many years ago at home. It doesn’t look much for most of the year, but then its leaves drop and out emerges incredible pompoms of mini purple bead-berries, which last on the plant all autumn (maybe the birds are put off by the intense colour). A stem looks marvellous cut for over a month inside too.
Care Tips
Easy to grow but to get the best return of berries you will need to plant in groups for cross pollination and site in an open and sunny location to help new growth ripen.
