Mix them up together in the garden and harvest them for inside.

Alliums are incredibly long-lived and flower for ages. The ones at Perch Hill have been coming back year after year for the last 12 years. I love them for adding late spring and summer pizzazz – strong colour and shape to the border, and they are excellent for cutting. This mix flowers from mid May to June. Watch Sarah explain why she loves this brilliant and perennial allium pairing in this video.

This collection includes 15 or 30 bulbs each of:
  • Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation'
  • Allium aflatunense (hollandicum)

Allium petals are edible, you can scatter them on salads. We use the more delicate types like cowanii and unifolium most often at Perch Hill.

Cultivation
Plant 15cm (6in) deep, 20cm (8in) apart. These are perennial and long-lasting so plant them somewhere permanent.

Care Tips

Removing the foliage once it becomes tatty doesn't appear to affect the bulbs.
