Description
Bronze in bud, opening to soft ochre, this species variety is one of the great naturalisers, spreading gently to make good clumps in sun or dappled shade. It’s also great for smaller pots and window boxes, which if planted deep enough will come back year on year. Overplant with something shallow-rooting like nemesias or anagallis for pots the rest of the year.
Tulip petals are all edible. We scatter them over salad and use some petals dipped in tempura batter and served with a spring garden Frito Misto.
Care Tips
After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs.
