These bulbs require very well-drained soil as they are intolerant of wet soil when dormant. Handle the fragile bulbs carefully and plant at four times their own depth.

Description

Sultry, exotic and to me irresistible, these fritillaries thrive in pots, large or small. Have them inside to revel in and then plant them outside once they’ve gone over for next year and every year after that.

Care Tips

Can be naturalised in a free draining gravel garden that doesn’t retain moisture in the winter. Cut back at the end of the season once the leaves have yellowed.
