- Direct sow March-April and/or August-September. May need a warm-cold-warm cycle and may be slow to germinate, taking up to 80 days. Or sow in the autumn, in shallow pans in light soil under a cold frame.
A glamorous, large-flowered sea-holly with sculpted heads in a steely grey or rich royal blue. Hard to beat and loved by pollinators.

Choose a spot with fairly dry, well-drained soil that is poor to moderately fertile. Full sun is essential as is protection from winter wet. This also grows well in pots.
