12 Months of Garden Colour with Sarah Raven at Ham Court, Bampton
Colour changes everything in a garden. It lifts the spirits in winter, brings excitement in spring and creates the abundance and generosity that make a garden feel truly alive.
This day course – hosted at the home of Matthew Rice in Oxfordshire – explores how to create a succession of colour, scent and interest through every season, using the plants, combinations and techniques that Sarah Raven has refined over three decades. From long-lasting, divinely scented tulips and show-stopping alliums to repeat-flowering roses, sweet peas and spectacular dahlias, you'll discover the hardworking varieties that keep a garden singing from January to December. Sarah has experimented with and developed multiple colour palettes and will inspire you to create colour combinations to suit every taste.
Sarah will be joined by the celebrated painter, writer and gardener Matthew Rice in the afternoon. He will share practical skills and techniques and guests can also enjoy a tour of the Matthew's private garden and grounds, which include a productive, walled kitchen garden, greenhouse, polytunnel, borders, lawns and working farmyard with animals.
This is passionate, life-enhancing gardening; it's also simple, adaptable and can work for your garden no matter its size.
