Zinnia elegans 'Queeny Red Lime' is exotic and unusual with red flowers, flecked with lime. I love a single stem of this in a vase.
There is hardly a vegetable garden in France, where you will not see zinnias grown for cutting. They thrive in hot, dry, Mediterranean summers and need good drainage and sunny open positions, but survive our colder, wetter summers fine. Any doubts, give them one or two doses of Copper Mixture and they will thrive.
Genus | Zinnia |
Group/Species | elegans |
Variety | Queeny Lime Red |
Type | Half-Hardy Annual |
Border Position | Middle |

Moisture | Moist but Well-drained |
Height | 60cm (24in) |

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Sow under cover in individual cells in March - early May (zinnias dislike root disturbance) or direct sow in June . Do not overwater. |

Zinnia elegans 'Queeny Lime Red' reviews
Reviewed 3rd August 2019 by Mrs Traherne I have always wanted to grow Zinnias and love predominately green flowers. These seedlings arrived safely and looked in good condition but achieved only 4 to 5 inches in height with one tiny flower head. Will not grow these again. |

Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Tina Quality of the plugs no where near as healthy as last years. I had fantastic flowers from them last year but these like the other zinnias I purchased struggled to get going and were leggy, some have flowered well but have only just started to do so the others either died or are still struggling to get buds going. I love zinnias but may try growing my own from seed in future. |
Reviewed 21st November 2018 by Katherine Plants looked promising but sadly next doors cat dug them up when we were on holiday so didn't survive😢 |
Reviewed 14th November 2018 by Chris Usual standard of service |
Reviewed 7th November 2018 by Madge Disappointed in the Zinnia. Hadn't had them before and found them too drab and artificial looking but good to truly something different |
Reviewed 7th November 2018 by Gill Suffered with the drought though, my fault not yours |
Reviewed 31st October 2018 by Tina Best of all my purchases! What amazing plants! Looked great with lilies in tall planters around our terrace. Everyone commented on them. They were healthy and prolific flowerers, loving our hot summer. Definitely will buy these again |
Reviewed 18th October 2018 by Thomas John Alexander-Head Delightful colour. Flower size small, not many blooms per plant, quite subject to mould, poor colour consistency across plants. (All in comparison with 3 other Zinnia strains grown) |
Reviewed 10th October 2018 by Susan Loved the look of these in the catalogue. I haven' found zinnias easy to raise from seed so the seedlings are a good buy. I think I'd hoped that the flowers themselves would be a bit bigger but apart from that we were able to cut quite a few for vases. |
Reviewed 3rd October 2018 by Norma Highly recommended, still flowering well into October. Lovely unusual colour which mixes well with most other flowers. |
Reviewed 20th September 2018 by Mrs Dayman This plant has been amazing all Summer. Every one grew to about 1m high with masses of beautiful flowers. Even the spent blooms kept their colour. I would definitely order these again. |
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Christine Lovely colours and they are still flowering and have lots of flowers. I would definitely buy them again. |
Reviewed 4th September 2018 by Angela Struggled at the beginning and something eating them, couldn't find what it was ants? But since we have had some rain looking good. |
