Common Name Leek
Soil Type Fertile
Site Full Sun, Part Shade
Moisture Well-drained
Height 30-45cm (12-18in)

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow under cover March-April, and plant out in June. Or sow direct May-July.
Care Tips Leeks can be treated like perennials, and have beautiful flowers if left to grow.
Storing Store in the ground and harvest as needed. Keep in plastic bag for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
Harvesting Lift with a garden fork from July-January (best for September-November). This is a very delicious baby leek.
Cooking Notes Ideal for soups and stews, and make an excellent replacement for onions. Finely chopping leeks brings out their flavour and texture. Delicious gently fried with a little lemon and sage. Perfect in pies too.
