Care Tips These young 'whips' will take at least 3 years to establish a strong root-system. We recommend planting each one 45cm apart in a zig-zag to achieve a thicker hedgerow. You should also prune back the top third of growth to encourage the plant to bush out when in growth. Another tip is to plant at a 45 degree angle so the whip has a larger surface area for sunlight to hit, which in turn encourages thicker growth.
