2 were fabulous but the yellow ones not as good.

I have only a courtyard. The plants were planted in large pots and although they had beautiful leaves, they did not produce many courgettes and a lot rotted from the end.

I ordered 3 seedlings, 1 each of 3 varieties. One had clearly been left to grow in the plurality for too long; looked like a mutant giant two leaved seedling. It failed. The other two turned out to be the same variety when they fruited - both yellow. Not what I ordered or how they were labelled.

The yellow courgette produced one very small inedible fruit. The "ribbed" courgette was very adequate and the other pale green courgette produced about 6 fruits in all. I have been growing courgettes for years and never had an experience like this. I potted them up straightaway then transferred to greenhouse then well cultivated garden plot in full sunshine. Disappointing.

The seeds germinated well and I grew them in pots. I collected them while small and tender which were lovely to eat and just enough to cope to consume. The collection provided the variety which looks great on a plate.

Lots of beautiful courgettes for four months...

I soaked these before sowing and put them in a warm room until they germinated which they all did nicely. I then kept the seedlings inside in a cool, light place until they formed healthy young plants and it was warm enough to plant them out.

We had the first courgettes in July (not bad for an elevated part of Derbyshire) and they kept coming until October! So beautiful and delicate compared to shop bought ones especially if you pick them small. We had a lot in risotto and shallow fried a few tempura style with the flowers stuffed with cheese and olives. So good!
