More Details

The great thing about this French sorrel is that it's perennial and is one of the first leaves to emerge in very early spring.

I can usually pick my first leaves of French Sorrel to add to a mixed leaf salad, or to flavour a delicious soup by the end of February. French Sorrel is reminiscent of spinach leaves with a slight citrussy flavour. Do an early spring sowing for spring and summer picking the first year and many years after that. Keep cutting back to prevent flowering.

Not particularly good germination but a few plants. Flavour not special.

High germination rate, they survived the slugs and rough treatment and they lasted through winter in the North West. They basically took care of themselves. Nice lemony taste too, the strength seems to vary.
