Samphire with fresh peas and young broad beans recipe

Harvest samphire from mud flats or salt marshes in July - or ask your fishmonger.  This makes an excellent first course.

Peas delicious but low crop
Beans have kept going well and the current crop more tender than in JULY

May have been a combination of dry weather and/or insect attacks but they did not thrive and produced only a small crop.

I loved having a selection and I gather beans have not been good for anyone this year.
Pea Alderman - Good, small crop. We did water but I think we should have given more.
Broad Bean Stereo - Good but a small crop. Would buy again but probably 2x the quantity.
French Bean Blue Lake. Poor to get going. Lost at least half and supplemented from local garden centre. Didn't pick quickly enough, got overmature very soon and dried out.
Runner Bean - Polestar. I remembered the name as one my father had grown. V good but my support arrangements were inadequate.

Not such a good year for peas and beans in my garden, probably needed more watering!
