A favourite at Perch Hill where we use it as a winter replacement for thyme. It’s easy to grow in a pot; keep one by the kitchen door to add flavour and fragrance to winter cooking.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Prefers well drained, rich, alkaline soil.
Care Tips It is recommended that you cut them back in the Autumn (and replace every three years).
Flowering July - September
Storing Once it flowers, cut the plant down and hang upside down to dry - this will take a few weeks - then store the leaves in a cool dark place.
Harvesting May - November, 6-8 weeks from sowing. Regular picking will promote growth and prevent flowering.
Cooking Notes A herb with a very strong peppery spiciness and one of the oldest flavouring herbs.
