Care Tips Leave foliage to die back and fertilise in Autumn. Potted Alliums can be kept in the pots and allowed to flower for their first season. Either sink the pots directly into the border or place into a larger container. Once they have finished flowering, feed with comfrey tonic and leave them to die back naturally in the pots, this will help bulk up the bulbs for next year. When the bulbs have completely died back, lift them and plant out into their permanent garden position. Alternatively you can plant out the pot grown Alliums from February to May before they flower. A root system will have established, so take care when transplanting into position and be sure the planting depth matches that of the pot.
