Description
Another garden-worthy wildflower, loved by all our pollinators particularly hoverflies and solitary bees. Pretty, lemon-coloured frothy clouds to stud rough grass or the front of a naturalistic, perennial border. Lady’s Bedstraw thrives on chalky soils in the wild, but we grow it happily enough here on heavy clay.
You can use the flowers as an edible garnish on salads. They are scented a bit like a cross between vanilla and freshly dried hay. The flowers were used as natural dyes in previous times, used in making butter and cheeses.
Care Tips
Looks great as part of a border, for wildlife or as part of a wildflower. meadow. Lady's Bedstraw prefers sunshine and poor, dry soil.
