Helleborus Stems
Description
Known as winter’s roses, these hellebore stems will bring light through the darkest season. Choose ‘Winterbells’ with green petals, flushed pink, or ‘Molly’s White’ in a creamy, lime green, or opt for a combination of pink and white blooms. Your bouquet will arrive wrapped in brown paper: a beautiful present for a friend or yourself.
- Stems come boxed.
Hellebores need careful conditioning, before arranging as cut flowers. This may all seem fiddly, but it's necessary, to give them a good start and keep them looking good for as long as possible.
When you receive your hellebores, first, score all the way down one side of the stem, with the tip of a sharp knife. Then, split the stem end, just 2-3cms straight up the middle to increase the surface area for water absorption. Finally sear the stem ends in boiling water for 10 seconds before laying them flat in a sink or bath of cold water overnight. With any that flop in the vase after all of this, we repeat the lying down in cold water treatment overnight and find they often resurrect miraculously. It's worth doing.
