Sow from March under cover. Best grown in containers in the glasshouse or a sunny windowsill but can be planted outside from June when nights are warm, in a sheltered position in full sun.

Description

Many a Greek Taverna has the re-cycled old tins of tomatoes and olive oil planted up with basils, (usually the Greek, bush basil kind). Here I’ve grown them accompanied by the Italian Sweet Genovese Basil, (for its incredible taste) and Basil ‘Queen of Sheba’ for full on class and colour.

Care Tips

Grows well in a container. Basil hates having wet roots overnight, so aim to water plants in the morning if possible. Keep plants bushy and productive by pinching the tips of branches regularly and remove any flowers that start to develop.
