Ficus lyrata (Fiddle-leaf fig)
In this mix
- A warm, sunny room
- Height on delivery approx. 90cm (36in); can grow to 1.8m (6ft) or more
- Common name
- Fiddle-leaf fig
- Let compost dry slightly before watering
- Typically 75cm (30in) once mature
The fiddle-leaf fig is closely related to the rubber plant and equally easy to grow but has much larger, eye-catchingly crinkled leaves. Photographed here in extra large Green Copenhagen Pot. Caution for pets.
Happiest in a sunny room with no cold draughts. Make sure the compost dries out slightly between waterings - overwatering is the most common problem with rubber plants. Clean the leaves occasionally to remove dust.
