Crocuses are often the first flowers in a garden and feel like the true cheerleaders of spring. Delicate, yet easy to grow, lovely closed up as a goblet and even lovelier, fully starily open. They will cheer up your February and March garden, at a generally grey time of year.

1 Strawberry plants were so young despite being planted straightaway they have not flowered

2 Argyranthemum/ lavender mix has not worked, as again the lavender plants are too young and haven't grown on to work as a mix - they haven't flowered. They were grown on in the greenhouse
