I’ve used this on my Hostas and around my dahlias. I have found it very effective. I like that you can’t really see it as it blends in & there is no nasty odour which I wondered if it would as it’s seaweed based. It’s definately the best deterrent I’ve tried. The other plus is that it helps improve quality of the soil. Only gave 4* as it is very pricey.

Try with copper tape - this could be a winning formula!

With varying degrees of success, I've tried a vast armoury of slug repellants from the low cost solutions like coffee grounds, egg shells and even pistachio shells (I did once have a lucky strike with chilli flavour - who knew?) .....to copper tape/ bands, woollen pellets and even nematodes. Must have spent more on protection than plants.

Now I think I've discovered the magic formula for containers, which is a combo of this new seaweed product and copper tape round the top edge of the pot. I've done a bit of a control experiment with each individually and the seaweed is marginally more successful; however, I seem to have hit bullseye with this copper/ seaweed combination - albeit a pricey solution. I've had no damage to any tender young dahlia shoots in 3L pots , nor to salvia cuttings, nicotiana seedlings and other favourite slug snacks.

Five stars rather than four because of the three packets I've indulged in (thankfully, using a SR discount code from a garden magazine) there has been inconsistency in the ratio of seaweed to ground seashells in the mix. That said, it seems to have made no difference to the result and I think I'm on a winner this year providing I don't have to replenish with the 3-4 week frequency that is recommended.

Look forward to hearing others' opinions. Has it just been my lucky year?
