More Details

An opium poppy bred as a cut flower so this one holds on to its petals even in the vase. For the poppy lover like me this is unmissable.

Opium poppies are a wonderful garden flower which pops up of its own volition, from one year to the next. Beautiful in flower and the seedpods are fantastic for arranging – we use them fresh, dried and sprayed silver at Christmas – an all round unmissable posse of plants.

Please note: This is harmful if eaten.

Probably due to the April sowing and hot and dry weather, the papaver didn't do as well as I hoped, Not all were Candy Floss, some dark single flower plants appeared. But I love the flowers and in a different year they will probably do better.

Never imagined poppies to grow that size - stunning. I didn't use them for cutting, though, as they are so huge.

Very, very disappointing. These were sown twice, four weeks apart in different places. Not one single one germinated. I was looking forward to them, and this is on an allotnebt where there is no running water so I really resent the effort I made to keep these seeds happy.

Followed planting instructions. Nothing grew at all.
