More Details

Not only do these look great, they make the tastiest soup and stir-fry. More people asked about their large white squash flowers at our summer and early autumn garden openings than anything in the flower parts of the garden. We’ll now always grow this trailling over our fences and hedge.

Please note, illustrated packets are being introduced gradually over the coming months, availability may vary.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Soak seed overnight before sowing under cover March-May. Sow two seeds vertically (to prevent rotting), 2-3cm (1in) deep in individual pots or modules. Place in a warm propagator or on a sunny windowsill. Remove the strongest seedling after germination. Harden off (acclimatise to outdoor conditions) and plant out from late May to early June, once there is no danger of frost. May be sown direct from mid-May to June.
Care Tips Plant out 90cm (36in) apart in each direction when plants have 5-6 leaves. Add plenty of organic matter to the soil before planting and keep well watered. Needs a climbing frame, this variety is ideal for growing up a trellis or archway, which will help make the fruit grow straighter.
Harvesting July - October. Pick fruit regularly whilst small and tender, 25-30cm (10-12in) long, regular picking will prolong the harvest.
