Care Tips When sowing make sure the ground is free from weeds and vigorous grasses. Scatter the seed onto the surface and firm the soil by treading or preferably rolling to ensure that the seed has good soil contact. Water with a fine spray to avoid disturbing the surface of the soil. Germination rates of various species will differ, some perennial/biennial varieties may not germinate until the following year. Wild flowers grow best on poor soil, so do not fertilise the area. This also applies when cutting vegetation, be sure to remove any material from the site, do not allow it to decompose back down into the soil, as this will only encourage growth of vigourous grasses. An annual cut is recommended in October/November.

Very informative advice which helps considerably as I'm new to vegetable growing. Although I had a garden at my previous address in rural Leicestershire which was included in the N.G.Scheme I'm new to veggie growing. Sarah's notes artful of excellent advice. I'll be buying the bulbs to naturalise in grass soon. Still have to scatter the Woodland Mix.
