More Details

A lovely cream foxglove that makes a beautiful cutflower and garden plant. We line the drive with these at Perch Hill to flower for May and through much of the summer. Bees and butterflies love them.

Foxgloves make some of the very best cottage garden early summer garden plants and cut flowers. If you pick the king flower – the main spire, you create lots of prince flowers and the plants will then go on flowering for longer.

Please note: This is Toxic if eaten.

Genus Digitalis
Group/Species purpurea f. albiflora
Type Biennial or Short-lived Perennial
Common Name White Foxglove
Border Position Border (Middle)
Soil Type Broad Tolerance
Scent Unscented
Site Part Shade
Moisture Moist but Well-drained
Height 1.2m (4ft)
Spacing 45cm (18in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow thinly under cover, into seed beds or direct where they are to flower from May to July. Thin out direct sown seedlings to 30cm apart and transplant others into final positions in autumn for flowering the next year.
Care Tips Remove the first flower spike early to encourage more 'prince' flowers from the base. May require protection from severe frost. Caution: All parts of the plant are highly toxic if ingested.
Flowering May - July, 1 year from sowing seed
Vase Life 7-10 days. As you cut put them in a deep bucket of warm water and leave for several hours before arranging. Remove any flowers hanging by the stigma.
Harvesting Flower production: 2-3 months. Pick the top king flower out and you will promote production of more prince side flowers.

These were strong plants when they arrived and after a couple of weeks in the greenhouse are planted in the garden and are growing well

I ordered two of these sets of three - all six plants have grown well and the first set produced masses of beautiful white spires. In the second set though, only one plant has produced flowers and they were purple - not really what I wanted in a white garden but still beautiful! A little disappointed that the other two plants in that set haven't produced flowers (they are growing in a clump, so in the same conditions), but they have made lots of leaves, which still looks good.

The digitalis looked healthy and in good condition on arrival but unfortunately one did not survive. The two that did flower were lovely.

Excellent when I had a problem but I will not be buying any more Dahlias from you. Your bulbs are first class.

The first batch of seeds struggled to germinate and when they did have rapidly deteriorated despite slug pellets and bug spray. I have sowed a second batch and am awaiting the results. I followed sowing instructions exactly.

Fantastic sturdy plants. My foxgloves are thriving but my Lupins were too tasty a treat for the snails and slugs to resist in the exceptionally hot weather over summer.....I will try again next year, a lesson learnt!

These plants arrived in great condition. They haven't flowered this year but knowing this kind of foxglove, they'll put on a fantastic display next year.

I bought these foxgloves as plants last year. They have flowered this year and they have been absolutely fabulous. So tall that next door have enjoyed them too.

I sowed these seeds three years ago and they have been spectacular. high percentage of germination (loads of plants to give away!) and outstandingly tall, fat spikes.
I have saved the seed and am hoping they will come back pretty true for a year or two.
I did sow some about ten years ago and providing you prevent any pollination from plants that flower purple, you can keep the white going for many years from seed.
I have tried other foxgloves, but these are by far the most reliably impressive.

Beautiful foxgloves
