Ricinus communis 'Carmencita' is a very handsome foliage plant, with its spiny scarlet football seed pods, perfect for the bold and brilliant garden and excellent in the border (with dahlias and gladioli) and in pots. A quick and easy impact plant.

Spacing Plant 30cm (12in) apart, thin to 60cm (24in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Soak the seed for a few hours in tepid water before sowing. Sow February-March, 6mm deep in seed trays or pots. Transplant when large enough to handle into pots, and transplant out when risk of frost has passed.
Care Tips Deadhead regularly. Please note, the seeds are poisonous, so please wear gloves when handling. May need staking. Can be grown in container pots.
Flowering July - September, 16 weeks from sowing

Only 8 seeds, but all germinated and survived. Brilliant contrast for cannas, dahlias and miscanthus. Have often self seeded.
