More Details

We’ve grown this for a few years as a foliage filler for rich-coloured pots and love it, but last summer, we experimented with it as a cut-flower foliage and it shot straight to the top of my favourites list with its airy, elegant, acer-like leaves right through summer and autumn. It’s cut-and-come-again, unlike an acer, so you can safely pick away.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow late winter to early spring. Start seed indoors in 10cm (4in) pots 4-6 weeks before the last frosts; prick out and pot on. Transplant out after all danger of frost has passed. Autumn sowings can be overwintered indoors for planting out the following spring. Drought and heat-resistant, combines well with other vigorous sun-loving plants in containers.
Care Tips Keep plants moist but don’t allow them to sit in wet soil. Container plants may need regular watering during dry spells otherwise their leaves might drop. Keep cutting the foliage for the vase and it will keep on producing. In mild areas, cut back and mulch in winter but in colder areas, treat as an annual or overwinter indoors. If overwintering store somewhere cool and dark, water the soil when it feels dry and move into the light in early spring.
Flowering July - October (the foliage darkens in full sun in the summer).
Vase Life Sear stem ends in boiling water for 10 seconds.

None of the plants thrived and were very disappointing. Wouldn't purchase them again but they arrived in good condition and were very carefully packed.
