Amaranthus tricolor 'Red Army' is an invaluable foliage in a deep red crimson for the late summer and autumn garden and vase.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow March - May, either indoors or directly where they are to flower (make sure all risk of frost has passed).
Care Tips Weed well in the area they are to grow and water regularly. May need staking. Leave to self seed. The leaves are edible.
Flowering July-September (12 weeks from sowing)
Vase Life 7-10 days. Remove most of the leaves.

Good foliage contrast

Good deep red stems, leaves & tassels. Eaten by ?voles or mice in August - but came back - and still colourful in Nov. I try a different Amaranthus every year, this is one of the best.
