Whether it’s in the garden, or in a pot on your doorstep, tulips and wallflowers make a marvellous combination.

Common Name | Wallflower, Tulip |
Border Position | Border (Middle) |
Soil Type | Neutral - Alkaline |

Moisture | Well-drained |
Height | 45cm (18in) |

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Plant your wallflowers as soon as they arrive, 25-30cm (10-12in) apart and then in November slot the tulip bulbs (pointy end up using a long-handled bulb planter) all through them to a depth of 15-20cm (6-8in). |
Care Tips | Don’t plant tulips until mid-late October. Plant pointy end up 10-15cm deep, 8cm apart in borders (less in containers). You can use a mycorrhizal Bulb Starter. After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs. |
Flowering | April - May |
Vase Life | Tulips make supreme cut flowers. Strip the bottom leaves, tie the stems in paper to hold the stems ram-rod straight and leave to drink for at least 3 hours – or overnight. This helps keep the stems straight, but tulips do continue to grow after picking so curves may appear. |
Harvesting | Flower production: 2 months. |

Tulip 'Spring Green' & Wallflower 'Sunset Primrose' F1 reviews
Gorgeous combination.
Reviewed 13th May 2018 by Linda Sharpe All ten of these lovely tulips came up and flowered for several weeks, much longer than I expected, and looked so nice with the pale sunflowers growing beneath them. I planted them near a pathway and received so many positive comments, and have enjoyed them everytime I walk up and down my path! |
