An extremely attractive and rare hybrid of calycanthus and sinocalycanthus. This hardy shrub bears cinnamon-scented leaves and attractive deep burgundy red flowers with a hint of cream towards the centre. The star shape is emphasised by numerous petals borne intermittently over a long period from early summer. Autumn also brings a gorgeous golden display.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | This will thrive in a sunny or partial shady area of the garden. When planted in full sun, it may not get as tall as when planted in part shade. Cold winds can damage spring growth, so position the plant in a sheltered location. This shrub tolerates many different types of soil, growing it in dry soil may result in slower growth. Ideally grow in a loamy soil that's rich, deep and drains water but still retains moisture. |
