I love this tall, many-branched sunflower for the back of the border, or, as we have in the Oast Garden at Perch Hill, right at the front. It also lasts well in the vase.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting This will grow best in a reasonably fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil in full sun. Incorporate plenty of organic matter before planting.
Care Tips Use a sturdy stake to support, as the wind may catch the heads. Pinch out at 8-10 inches. Needs a long hot summer to flower well. Cut back after flowering. Lift and divide in spring or autumn.

Vase Life 10 days, put straight into water and keep away from heat.

Good tall plant with lots of flowers

The plant was very healthy and has grown well. It has plenty of buds but hasn't had too many flowers so far (probably due to the dry summer). Those that have bloomed are pretty.
