Papaver orientale 'Patty's Plum' is the colour of blackcurrant ice-cream.
No good garden is complete without its poppies, lovely open flowers, ethereal and transient in their appearance, but robust and easy to grow. These Oriental varieties of poppy are all perennial too so will come back year after year.
Papaver orientale are remarkably resistant to pests and diseases and will overwinter well.
This variety – 'Patty's Plum' – was discovered on a compost heap belonging to the nursery of Patricia Marrow in Somerset in the 1990's. She propagated it and it still remains with us today.
These are high-quality plants sent out with Sarah's complete spring plant growing booklet which will show you exactly how to care for them.

Papaver orientale 'Patty's Plum' reviews
Survived the drought
Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Caroline Carroll Patty arrived beautifully packaged as always and was planted. A few weeks later I realised she was in the wrong place (too hot), so moved her - and then the drought came and she died. Irritated by my own stupidity. |
