Sowing, Seeds, Planting Prior to sowing soak seeds in hot water for 1-3 days until swelling is noticeable. Sow into trays, cells or pots containing good quality seed compost, place somewhere warm until germination occurs. Prick out each seedling as it becomes large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Grow seedlings on until the roots fill the pot, gradually acclimatise seedlings to outdoor conditions for a fortnight before planting out in spring. Lychnis will grow in most well-drained soils in full sun or dappled shade. Dig a planting hole and sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi (Rootgrow) into the base. Plant and firm in place, water well after planting and during dry spells until established.

Fantastic- I didn't know quite what to expect, but this has turned into a big bush, full of the most zingy flowers. I had it in a pot, because of foxes, but it's really too big, and the wind topples it over, so I shall try it in the garden next year

This never flowered. When it arrived it was pot bound. I repotted it and it is now in the ground. I contacted customer service and they was sure it would flower. I bought the same genus at a church fete and this flowered all summer.

All the plants I have bought from you have been good strong plants and so well packed and protected.
You are a little more expensive than others but there is no comparison in quality. Thank you

1out of 3 plants has done very well. The remaining 2 produced lots of leaf but no flowers. It may be due to weather conditions.

Disappointed with the delivery of these plants. Five days in the post - arrived very dry. I hope they survive.

The benefits of rose campion

Reviewed 29th March 2017 by Zoe

Rosa campion is a wonderful flower drawing the eye and brightening up its chosen area of growing. At our house, it has placed shallow roots on top of a low stone wall facing east. The rosette of leaves looks good from April onwards and the growing leaves contribute until it flowers with a fanfare. I always hide the base with a pot or two in the autumn as the base leaves become tatty. This year it has reappeared just 30cm away from last year's spot. It does like low nutrient locations and does not need much soil.
