One of the most intensely coloured of all sea hollies which is very Good for Cutting –  the large flowers are fantastic used fresh in arrangements, but they also dry very well, if cut before the blooms are fully open. This plant is also very drought tolerant, but will do best in well-drained soil in a sunny spot.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant out in spring or autumn into moderately fertile (can cope with poor soils too), well drained soil in full sun. Colour deepens in sunniest position.
Care Tips Cut back in late summer to remove tatty foliage.
Flowering August
Vase Life Give eryngiums a long drink in deep water. They should last for 2 weeks. Or dry in time for your Christmas table.
Harvesting  If using as dried flowers, cut the stems before the blooms are fully open

Very small plant but vigorous growth pleased with performance plants always arrive well packed

Has needed lots of attention and I’m not sure it will survive. Fortunately I have it in a pot still so I will be able to take it under shelter for the winter. The flower was poorly formed and coloured. Very disappointing but I will persevere with it.
