Similar to Digitalis purpurea f. albiflora but more compact and with a pale pink blush to the outer petals and lighter, almost white speckled throats. Foxgloves make some of the very best cottage garden, early summer garden plants and cut flowers. If you pick the king flower – the main spire, you create lots of prince flowers and the plants will then go on flowering for longer. Bees and butterflies love them too.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Foxgloves will grow in most soils (except very wet or very dry) but prefer fertile soil in a semi-shaded spot. To help plants establish sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi (Rootgrow) into the base of the planting hole. See our advice pages for a guide to sowing and growing foxgloves. |
Care Tips | Remove the first flower spike early to encourage more 'prince' flowers from the base. May require protection from severe frost. Caution: All parts of the plant are highly toxic if ingested. |
