I could not be without this now. Deep velvet flowers against bright green foliage, it looks like something by Chanel. Give it a sheltered spot in case of wet summers.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Half-hardy annuals will require protection until after the last frosts. Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days before moving to their final position. For growing in pots, use as large a container as possible, as this won't dry out so quickly and will require less watering. As a general guide we recommend 9-10 plants to a 40cm (16in) diameter container. Put plenty of crocks in the bottom for drainage and part-fill with a good quality, multi-purpose peat-free compost. Position your plants and backfill with compost ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Water well to settle the soil. |
Care Tips | Deadhead to prolong the flowering period. These will work well in a container pot in a sunny position. Water well in the first two weeks, to prevent the plant from drying out. Apply liquid fertiliser fortnightly to improve performance. |
Flowering | June - October |
Vase Life | Petunias make lovely, trailing cut flowers. Sear the stem end in boiling water for 10 seconds, before (ideally) storing in deeper cold water for a couple of hours. Then arrange. |
