Cruella de Vil lipstick-purple, with large trumpets and hugely long flowering season. After our trial here in 2020, we now know we should all grow more penstemons. This was a cracker.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant in spring or summer in well-drained soil. If you garden on heavy clay, add plenty of coarse grit to avoid plants sitting in winter wet. Prefers sun or light shade. Sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi (Rootgrow) into the base of the planting hole and water well after planting.
Care Tips Leave the current seasons growth on over winter to provide protection and mulch around the base of the plant in autumn with compost or leaf mould. Cut back old growth in late spring as new shoots are appearing.
Flowering June - October
Vase Life Sear the stem ends in boiling water for 10 seconds and rest in cold water overnight before arranging.
