Salvia patens 'Guanajuato' is a classic salvia with intense rich blue flowers. This is a larger cultivar to the standard Salvia patens, and it's 'giant' height is a great addition to a border or cottage garden.

If you want a garden that looks good through the autumn as well as the summer, it's a good idea to add lots of salvias, which flower long and hard, right into the winter.

This blue flower is named after the city in Mexico where it was first collected.

If I had to choose 1 plant, (impossible) it might be this. The colour is a gorgeous Matisse blue, I think the most beautiful blue of any plant, I've grown it in pots, and the next year it grows again from the tubers, flowers late, Sept. - Dec, whereas if you get the cuttings now(Feb) they will flower early summer. So potentially it could flower almost non- stop.
