Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow under cover in early spring for flowers by late June. Sow again in early June for flowers from late August-November. Surface sow thinly onto seed trays, do not cover seed. Prick out and pot on when seedlings are large enough to handle. Harden off for 7-10 days before planting out after the frosts. May also be sown in autumn, for overwintering in a cold frame (or very sheltered spot) to give earlier flowers the following year. Snapdragons can be slow to germinate and grow.
Care Tips Choose a spot in full sun or light shade, ideally with moist but well-drained soil. Prepare the final planting area well by adding plenty of organic matter (such as Orgro or home-made compost) and forking it through your topsoil. You want soil with a fine tilth (or texture). Mark out your planting positions with empty plant pots, leaving plenty of space for plants to spread. Dig holes deep and wide enough so that the roots are covered and the crown (or base) of the plant is level with the soil surface. Backfill around each plant and firm the soil gently. You should be able to tug gently on the leaves without the plant lifting out of the ground. Water them in well. For growing in pots, use as large a container as possible, as this won't dry out so quickly and will require less watering. Once seedlings reach 8-10cm (3-4in) the growing tip may be pinched out to encourage more side-shoots to form. Water well, support stems by growing up through jute netting, stretched horizontally at 45cm, over the plants. Keep picking (not to the ground but to above a pair of leaves), and these will keep flowering for months at a time.
Flowering June - October
Vase Life They should last 7-10 days in the vase. Strip the bottom leaves and sear stem ends in boiling water for 10 seconds and then leave in cool water, ideally overnight before arranging.
Harvesting Flowers June-October. Pick regularly for the vase, strip bottom leaves and sear stem ends in boiling water.

Good looking and handsome plants. They are flourishing and look gorgeous in their pot even standing up to the recent heavy rain.
