    Antirrhinum majus 'Chantilly Bronze' F1

My favourite colour form of these brand new, Japanese-bred 'Chantilly' snapdragons, which are taller, hardier and longer flowering than any others we have trialled, with a soft, fruity scent and large, open-faced ruffled flowers.

Eschscholzia californica 'Thai Silk Formula Mixture'

These are THE ruffled silk poppies, a beautiful mix of oranges, pinks, reds and cream above elegant blue-silver, highly cut leaves. They will self-seed at the front of the border and through impoverished gravel where we have them at Perch Hill. A showy, glamorous new introduction.

Eustoma grandiflorum 'Arena III Apricot' F1 (Lisianthus)

These are slow to flower, but truly worth the wait. The café-au-lait-coloured lisianthus is perfect for arranging with soft-coloured dahlias, roses and sunflowers (such as Pro-Cut Plum) and this has an exceptional vase life of 10 days if kept cool. I’d say this is all set to take the cut flower…

    Phlox drummondii grandiflora 'Cherry Caramel'

A mix of coffee, raspberry and cream in this truly beautiful annual phlox, which lasts well over a week in the vase. It has spindly stems, so support as it grows. We grow this up through garlic chives as a sturdy frame.

    Ridolfia segetum

Long flowering and hugely prolific, with acid-green golden plateau flowers – like dill, but even better for flower arranging. A top favourite plant.

Grow this variety of scabious for its glamorous, papery globe seed heads which are beautiful and delicate fresh, but also dry. You can spray them lightly with hairspray to make them more robust. Self-seed gently at the front of a border from one year to the next.

    Anethum graveolens (Dill)

A brilliant acid-green cut flower filler, with so many different roles. The leaves are invaluable in the kitchen, I use its flowers for decorating salads and for arrangements, and the seeds for baking and tagines. As a cut flower, it's good with whites and blues or rich, brilliant colours to…

    Calendula officinalis 'Snow Princess'

The softest primrose pot marigold, or calendula, its heart and petal tips fringed crimson. 'Snow Princess' is even hardier than the already hardy other calendulas, so can be sown very early in spring or in the autumn for late spring-flowering.

    Echinacea x hybrida 'Summer Cocktail'

As its name suggests, you’ll get a colourful cocktail of soft colours in late summer with this. The buds develop from a soft, hazy yellow and mature to a vibrant orange and salmon pink gradient. Because the colour change is gradual, you’ll see the whole trio of colour shades when the plant is…
