Pinch out tips when plants have 4 pairs of leaves. If autumn sown, overwinter in a light, cool place. Sweet peas often have a hard seed coat so it may help to soften the seed before sowing. Do this by placing seeds on damp kitchen paper and putting somewhere warm until seeds swell or sprout. You can also make a small nick in the seed coat to help moisture enter the seed before sowing.
Care Tips Remove the climbing tendrils as they grow. Tie the stem into your framework on a regular basis. Can be grown in deep container pots up a climbing frame. Find out how to cordon train your sweet pea in Sarah's how-to guide.

These started off very well but unfortunately the extremely hot and dry weather did them no favours. Despite lots of watering they didn’t put on as good a show as previous sweet pea purchases and curled up and died very early. I’m prepared to try again next year though on the basis that the seedlings themselves were not at fault!

Your plants are always good. Have had sweet peas from you since about 2008, and they've always been gorgeous - even when forgotten about for a couple of days! So - Thank you very much. Shall be ordering my tulips any time now too.

Best ever!!

I have always grown sweet peas, usually from seed, but last year found Sarahs selection of the above in the Telegraph.WOW!!! I have never had such a lovely selection and quality of sweet peas ever, the scent is divine, and they are so easy to grow. I shall definitely be ordering them again for 2015. Well done!

Absolutely stunning!

I bought this dual collection for my niece's birthday in Feb 2014. Strong plants, well packaged arrived amidst weather too wet to plant out, so they were kept under cover till April when they were planted to grow up two wigwams. Well, what a show they became, with my niece picking up to 3 bunches a day every other day and yes, you are reading right. And she's a novice gardener too. A must for colour and scent too.
