Three new found favourite chrysanthemums which we picked together from the garden.

I loved them so much, we then lifted them and brought the trio into the greenhouse to replace the tomatoes, where they flowered happily until Christmas. An unmissable threesome.

This collection contains:
  • 3 or 6 rooted cuttings of 'Chrysanthemum 'Avignon Pink' (Indoor, Bloom variety)
  • 1 or 2 rooted cuttings of Chrysanthemum 'Tarantula Red' (Indoor, Spray or Bloom variety)
  • 1 or 2 rooted cuttings of Chrysanthemum 'Pandion Bronze' (Indoor or Outdoor, Bloom variety)
Our chrysanthemums:
  • come with full planting instructions, great for beginners
  • are sent out as rooted cuttings (approx. height 6cm), which get to flowering size in one season
  • just pot on your chrysanthemums and plant out as soon as the frosts are over in your area
  • all chrysanthemums make wonderful cut flowers
Genus Chrysanthemum
Variety Avignon Pink, Pandion Bronze, Tarantula Red
Type Tender Perennial
Common Name Chrysanthemum
Soil Type Fertile, Neutral

Height 1.5m (5ft)

Sowing, Seeds, Planting If you have soil beds in your greenhouse, the rooted cuttings can be planted direct, spaced at 30-40cm, and watered in well. Pinch out and stake your plants as you would for outdoor varieties. Alternatively you can grow your chysanths in large pots, about 35-40cm in diameter, to move outside in good weather.
Care Tips After planting, water generously for 1-2 weeks so the plants get well established. Apply a balanced liquid feed every two weeks from midsummer until the flower buds start to appear. After flowering, cut back the main stem to about 20cm (8in), lift the shortened plants and overwinter in a frost-free place.
Flowering September - December

  • Sow Under Cover/Plant Indoors
  • Direct Sow/Plant Outdoors

Something to look forward to late in the season. Sarah's colour choices are to be recommended.

I bought many plants this past year, but I refer here in particular to the Christmas chrysanthemums I bought in the hope of having fresh flowers for Christmas. I followed instructions re planting and maintenance carefully. There was a magnificent display the first fortnight of November, which I duly harvested, but I'm afraid they have not produced any further flowers -- apart from just two pink flowers that are now out. That is very little from ten plants. It appears they will not be in flower for Christmas.

Most of the other plants I bought this year were disappointing too, but I do not blame SR for that. It was such an impossibly hot season, and we had had a hosepipe ban here in Dublin. Alas, the flowers for a white garden I planted in the hope of house flowers for my daughter's wedding, were few, and sporadic. But as I say, I do not believe that was the fault of SR.

Good quality plants, great choice good colour combinations, did really well dispite the challenge of keeping them watered this summer.
Grew the chrysanths on in pots lost one but the look great had three good cuts off of them for vases so far and more to come

Service was good and the plants are healthy and growing well. Two of the three plants in the Christmas Collection we bought are in flower now (late October) but, sadly, the Pandium Bronze shows no buds or any sign of flowering yet.
