More Details

Another new, and I'm confident, life-long favourite. A spring flowering viola in copper to peach and apricot. Its stems are long enough for picking and it makes the perfect filler for a series of mini table centre pots. I absolutely love this. It’s sweet yet stylish and its flowers are edible. Passionately recommended.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Sow indoors, spring sowings will give flowers during early summer, whilst summer and autumn sowings will bloom the following winter or spring. Once seedlings emerge, pot on and move to a cooler position before planting out. Plant out in autumn or spring into fertile, well-drained soil and water in well. Ideal for containers and edging paths to soften the edges.
Care Tips Incorporate a slow-release fertiliser before planting or apply a balanced liquid feed every 2-3 weeks. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering and maintain a compact shape. If plants become leggy, a mid-season chop in July to 5cm (2in) above ground-level will help promote bushy re-growth.
Flowering October - May
Vase Life Sear stem ends in boiling water for 10 seconds.
Harvesting Flower production: up to 8 months
Cooking Notes Edible flowers – ideal for decorating salads and puddings. Harvest and use straight away or store in a Tupperware-ware box or plastic bag in the fridge but take care not to bruise them.
