The whopping, spiky football-like heads of this petalless sweet William make this one of my favourite foliage plants. Along with Dianthus 'Green Trick', this makes a great evergreen pot filler for winter and spring. With green domes twice the size of 'Green Trick' it's a tip-top cut flower too.

For an abundant autumn, plant smart and you’ll be enjoying beautiful flowers for months.
One of my favourite puddings – a healthy, non dairy ice-cream. You can cut the calories ever further by using light coconut milk.
July is the time to sow hard-working, colourful biennial flowers for next year's garden. In this article Sarah shows you how.

Dianthus barbatus 'Green Wicky' reviews
Reviewed 18th October 2019 by Mary I fell in love with these last year and because my established plants look so nice I had to but several more. They have good pom pom flower heads and have thrived in my garden. The new plants are strong and healthy. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Anjana Would have given 5 stars but for receiving wrong item. Had ordered 'Green Wicky' but received flowering variety instead. Obviously couldn't tell order had been mixed up until the flowers showed, but would hasten to add that I was still very pleased with the plants received as they have flowered well and are unusual and interesting. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Alison An unexpected find. Performed all through the winter, and now happy in a bed. Very long lasting. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Carole Only 1 plant survived even though I followed all the instructions |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Ms Daniels Good for flower arrangements |
Reviewed 27th November 2018 by Cally Great when they came but only started blooming in late October when I was expecting them to be good in the summer....but very dry and hot conditions maybe didn't help. |

Reviewed 19th September 2018 by Lizanne They are a fab addition to a cut flower garden. But I wish the blooms were bigger and the stems straighter! |
Reviewed 14th September 2018 by Mrs Dix I bought these last year and they were wonderful so I was disappointed this year when only one pllant has flowered. Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:"Thank you for your review. We are very sorry to hear that your dianthus have failed to flower. Hopefully , now that the weather has cooled down a little more flowers will appear. We have refunded you for the plants and apologise for the disappointment." Posted 7th November 2018 |
